  4. American Civil War (1861–1865) America's northern states fought the southern confederate states to end slavery.
  5. World War I (1914-1918)
    The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophia in 1914 ignited the Great War. Europe's great powers (Russia,France,Britain,Italy, and Belgium) fought against the Central powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey)

    Germany went to war (known as The Great War) with Britain because they were competing for power to become the strongest.
  6. World War II (1939-1945)
    Adolf Hitler wanted to revenge Germany's defeat in WWI. Germany invaded Poland. Japan surrendered in 1945, and the war ended.
  7. Cold War (mid-1940s to the early 1990s)
    Post-World War II geopolitical tensions between the Soviet Union and the US. The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
  8. Persian Gulf War (1990-1991)
    (Iraq invaded Kuwait)
  9. 9/11/2001 Terrorist Attack on America. And on March 10, 2009 the 9/11 Suspects say they are "Terrorists To The Bone".
  10. War in Afghanistan (2001–present)
    Former pres. George W. Bush launched the Afghanistan War in 2001 after the ruling Taliban in Kabul refused to turn over al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, mastermind of the 9/11 attacks that killed 3,000 Americans.

    (The protesting began as a result of Mohamed Bouazizi , a Tunisian street vendor who  set himself on fire  on December 17, 2010. The story of Mohamed Bouazizi).
